Mr. Perkins’ practice includes litigation involving personal injuries, transportation liability, construction defect, professional liability, insurance, property damage and employment practices. He has tried cases to jury verdicts throughout southwestern Idaho, and he has presented cases before the Idaho Supreme Court, the Idaho Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Perkins is involved in all aspects of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration . He counsels and advises businesses and individuals concerning risk management, liability avoidance and case resolution strategies.

Mr. Perkins is a member of the Idaho State Bar . He has fulfilled two terms on the Idaho State Bar Professional Conduct Review Board and one term on the State Bar Exam Grading Committee. Mr. Perkins is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Idaho, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

From 1980 to 1986 Mr. Perkins served in the Utah Air National Guard, where he functioned as a surveillance operator in a Forward Air Control unit. During his military service, Mr. Perkins achieved the rank of staff sergeant, and was recognized as the Outstanding Airman of the Quarter by both his unit and the Utah Air National Guard. He held a Security Clearance and was awarded the Combat Readiness Medal, the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon and the Utah National Guard Achievement Ribbon. He received an honorable discharge at the end of his enlistment.

In 1988 Mr. Perkins graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor of science degree in political science, and a minor in economics. He was a member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon and Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Societies and was a Scholastic Achievement Award recipient. While attending college, in addition to serving in the Utah Air National Guard, Mr. Perkins worked as a mineral property manager, managing mineral leases and mining claims. He also worked as a grave-yard emergency dispatcher. Prior to college, he worked in construction and property maintenance. He completed the Utah Real Estate Law and Arizona Real Estate Salesman courses.

Mr. Perkins graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1991. He was awarded the Minas and Langroise merit scholarships and was on the Dean's list all six semesters. He received the American Jurisprudence Award in Torts II. He was employed as a teaching assistant and research assistant for the Legal Research and Writing Course in both his second and third years of law school. In the summer of 1990 he was also employed as a paid intern at Hepworth, Nungester and Lezamiz, a respected regional plaintiff's firm. Mr. Perkins joined the law firm of Quane, Smith, Howard and Hull, the predecessor firm of Carey Perkins LLP, following law school.

Mr. Perkins is a partner in the Boise office. He is the managing partner of Carey Perkins LLP and a member of the firm’s management committee.
